Seems like cutting in and out many times a second; still comprehensible
- rather like you hear on YouTube, VLC etc. at other than ×1 speed.
Video looks fine. Subtitles are fine. Persists through ad. breaks (i. e.
the audio in the ad.s, and trailers, is warbly too). I don't _think_
it's my TV - all other channels I've tried, audio (and video) are fine.

Weird: seems it _is_ my set, as when I tried on another set, it isn't
warbly - but when I come back to the first one (which has been into and
then out of standby), it's still warbly. Just on that one channel! Just
doing a retune for mux SDN (channel 40 here) - no, didn't cure it.

Yes way back you used to get this same problem with CSI. Apparently some
older series were edited for putting out a bit earlier, so gory bits and
dead people were taken out. This sounded like a swizling or warbling noise,
like a water mark. These shows often lost their AD tracks too.
One problem with AD is that if an add break comes in the middle of an ad
sound ducking, the sound then stays ducked and you have to switch away then
back to get the volume back. Same can happen if adverts with AD are mixed
with those without Flash ads are one culprit.

No, I remember the level problems with CSI and the like, and that the
ad. break sometimes cured it, or had some other effect. This problem was
a sort of garbled audio - understandable, mostly, but obviously not
right. It was still doing it on my Panasonic - but not my Polaroid -
this morning. I've been out, and now - Friday evening - the problem is
gone, i. e. FreeView channel 21 audio is fine.

Doing it here as well from Emley.

I'll expound on that.

We have 5 TVs in the house:
Samsung 32" Smart
Samsung 24" full HD
Samsung 28" SD about 20 years old
Philips 24" full HD
Panasonic 26" SD over 20 years old
and the sound upset ONLY occurs on the Panasonic.

I live almost on line between Emley and Bilsdale and they are BOTH doing
the burbling sound, picture is perfect.
I put a 5G filter in line on the Panny and it still does it, even with
an 18dB attenuator as well. I also wiped the memory and tried Com4 alone
on both Bilsdale and Emley and they are both still at it.

Same here! Well, I only have an elderly Panasonic, and a Polaroid STB,
which is HD (T2) so presumably more recent.

I did try a rescan on just that MUX (channel 40 or 44 here IIRR) and it
didn't cure it. OK now (Friday evening) though.

Just used the chat line to Freeview and they admit there is a national
broadcast problem that affects only certain makes of TV.

The audio stream spec on 5USA doesn't look any different from the others
in the MUX.

They've either cured it, or its cured itself because it has gone dark

Who knows. we went through a spate a year or so back that there was so much
clicking on one channel I called them, and they said thy knew it was there
but not time till it stopped. That took best part of 6 months.
