There's the fashion for coloured abstract backgrounds that gradually
move; fairly calming, I suppose.
However, when something is shown almost full screen, but little strips
of these backgrounds remains round the edge, their movement can be
distracting, as it's not immediately obvious what they are - there's one
(orange, IIRR - can't remember which prog.) that, when only a narrow
strip is shown, sometimes looks like a progress bar, until you realise
it isn't.
The latest is the new Breakfast one, with the big blue circle. I quite
like it in some places. But this morning for the weather forecasts, at
least 6:45 and 7:15, for some reason the weather map was shown only
partly filling the screen (maybe they want to show off their nice studio
with the big screen with a platform in front of it that the forecaster
is standing on); this meant that the sides of the map had the new
background, and the big blue circle hove into and out of view at times,
which was rather distracting to the actual forecast.

it was all the mistakes I knew at the time. - Tim Dowling, RT2015/6/20-26
